Doughnut cell phone holder

Doughnut_cell_holder_cwRather than keep your cell phone flat on its back whenever it's not pressed against your face, why not stick it in the hole of a doughnut?

The Glazed Donut Cell Phone Holder by CleverWares.com is made of "very dense" resin and hand-painted (rather heavily, I might add) to look like a partially eaten doughnut that's taken one too many dips in a pool of sugary glaze. Designed to fit a "standard cell phone," which looks to exclude smartphones and iPhones, the holder costs $13.20 and is also available as a cruller.

Doughnut FM radio

Donut_radio_dtIf you've ever looked at a box of doughnuts and wished it could play music, then you're in luck (and perhaps in need of some expert advice) with this doughnut-shaped FM radio. It was actually only available for one day at The Design Town, so I guess you would've been in luck if you had seen the radio when it was on sale in August 2007.

Even though FM radios aren't as popular as MP3 players these days, it's still a bit of shame that this one isn't available anymore. It was pretty novel, really, with station surfing managed by the outer ring and power and volume controlled with the rotating inner ring. The antenna was housed inside the battery compartment, which sat opposite the built-in speaker.

Doughnut USB drives

Doughnut_usb_drive_chocIf looking at a doughnut USB drive frosted in rich chocolate makes you want 500 of them, then head over to Vavolo and place an order.

Wait a minute, what am I saying? What are you going to do with 500 chocolate doughnut drives? Each one measures 2.6" x 1.4" x 1.4", so it's not like you can carry all of them in your pocket.

What I meant to say is that if this USB drive makes you want 167 covered in chocolate, another 167 smothered in strawberry, and 166 dripping in green tea frosting (or any other combination that totals 500), then head over to Vavolo to buy a box. Because ordering in bulk is the only way to plug this doughnut into your computer.

Doughnut clock designed by cops

Doughnut_clock_copstopI've actually only seen cops in movies and cartoons eating doughnuts in the car or at a coffee shop, but I suppose the police-pastry cliche exists for a reason. Why else would The Cop Stop, an online shop featuring designs created by actual law enforcement folk, have come up with something like this doughnut wall clock ($12)? The design is simple and clever (I'm actually surprised no one has done this before) and the "it's all about the doughnut" line printed at the bottom definitely pulls no punches.

I don't have any police officers in the family or even known one personally, so I'd rather the pastries be used to spell out the word "doughnut" instead. Even "donut," a spelling I usually don't like, would make more sense hanging in my house.

Tasty time-telling: Handmade doughnut clock

Doughnut_clock_sc My husband and I bought this adorable doughnut clock for my dad last year after seeing it on Popgadget (well, okay, after I wrote about it; if you haven't checked out the about page yet, Doughnut Bites is not the only place you can find me).

The plastic clock is mounted above my parents' computer, so whenever we visit, I always admire the mini polymer-clay baked goods marking the hours. My favorite pieces, all handmade by Noriko Kuwabara, are the powdered sugar doughnut at 8 o'clock and the chocolate doughnut sprinkled with chopped peanuts at 10.

Available now for $36.
