Cakespy coffee and doughnut T-shirt

Coffee_donut_shirt_cakespyBelieve it or not, I've actually never had coffee and doughnuts before. Not together, anyway. I know the cop cliche is supposed to be a classic combination, but my taste buds have always considered coffee to be a drink best enjoyed alone.

And even though it isn't a popular opinion and the 100% cotton Hanes Coffee and Donut Shirt ($17) is marketed with a "Coffee and donuts--so much better together!" sentiment, I still think that on some level, Cakespy (the designer) kind of agrees with my taste buds. Why else would the frosted doughnut and coffee cup be chatting it up like old friends? There's no way they'd be so chummy if they knew that being in each other's company meant imminent digestion.

Cute doughnut women's T-shirt

Doughnut_shirt_tsrdIf you've been searching for a doughnut counterpart to the Kawaiidoscope Cupcakes featured on Cupcake Bites the other day, then look no further than Two Scoops Rice Designs' cotton doughnut tee ($19).

Available in light pink, light blue, and light yellow, the standard-fit shirt features a super cute smiling doughnut "wearing" its beaded pink frosting like a hat. I actually think it's supposed to be hair, but I'm going with "frosting hat" because it sounds more appealing. Have a look at a bigger version of the darling doughnut (I wish it had a name) below.

Doughnut ringer T-shirt encourages mistreatment

Okay_donut_ringer_lwdWhat kind of message is this?

If you ask me, wearing a ringer tee with "It's okay, I'm a donut" printed across the front of it is asking for trouble. It's like telling strangers that they can do whatever they want to you (e.g., push you around, cut in front of you, punch you in the gut) and it won't matter.

I mean, hey, you're just a doughnut. And last I checked, doughnuts don't really get offended too easily. If being mobbed sounds like fun to you, the 100% cotton ringer T-shirt sells for $25 and is available in yellow/gold, pink/salmon, and mint/avocado color combinations.

Peace, love, and doughnuts T-shirt

Peace_love_doughnuts_shirtEven though it's basically the same unoriginal attempt at cleverness as the Got Donut? shirt, somehow I find this Peace Love Doughnuts Dark T-Shirt by Chrissy H. Studios a lot less annoying. I don't care for the message, which makes use of what has unfortunately become nothing more than a template ("peace, love, and [insert anything here]"), but the design is kind of cute. I also appreciate the spelling of the word "doughnuts." Yes, "donuts" is commonly used and listed as an acceptable variant in the dictionary, but I still can't stand it.

The preshrunk 100% cotton shirt costs $27.99 and is available in black, cardinal, navy, military green, and brown.

Doughnut T-shirt takes on milk

Got_donut_shirtOkay, can I just say how much I absolutely hate those "got milk?" commercials and print ads? Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against milk, or any dairy product for that matter (well, except for blue cheese, which doesn't deserve to exist and must be stopped!), but if it wasn't for the calcium-rich drink, I wouldn't have to cringe and roll my eyes every time another piece of "got ____?" merchandise crossed my path.

Enough! It is so played out and boring and tired and generic that I can barely gather the strength to shake my head at this $24 Got Donut? women's t-shirt.

Crocheted doughnuts for your neck

Doughnut_scarf_jkHere we have a ring of crocheted doughnuts fashioned out of wool, microfiber, cashmere, acrylic, cotton, and rayon and made to confound everyone around you. Is it a necklace? A scarf? A lei?

Joy Kampia O'Shell, the mastermind behind this "Donuts Are A Girl's Best Friend" piece, won't tell. She's content to showcase her one-of-a-kind artwork with the hope that it will "challenge the viewer's preconceived notions" of food and crochet. You'll understand what she means when you see her amazing Hamburger Dress.

P.J. Salvage pink doughnut pajamas

Pink_doughnut_pjsThe weather here in Hawaii is too warm and humid for flannel pajamas, but the next time we visit a state with a much cooler climate, I think I might like to pack this cute pink set from P.J. Salvage in my suitcase.

Printed all over the three-button long-sleeve top and matching drawstring elastic pants are several varieties of doughnuts, the chocolate one bearing the requisite bite mark. By the way, I really don't understand why visible signs of certain foods having being eaten are supposed to be appealing. How long before advertisers take the "one bite technique" a step further? Nothing but bread crumbs from a juicy burger? A grease stain from fried chicken?

But I digress. The boyfriend-style doughnut pajamas normally retail for $63 but are on sale for a very specific $50.40 from Freshpair.
